Life insurance, explained plainly

Most people look into life insurance for one reason: they don't want the people they love to inherit a bill. Here's what it's actually for after 65 — and how to find out what it would cost you, with no obligation.

Why people look at it after 65

Life insurance isn't only for young families with a mortgage and small children. The reasons change with age, but they don't disappear.

Covering what you leave behind

Final expenses, an outstanding mortgage, or a medical bill that arrives after you do. Many people want those handled without family having to find the money.

Protecting a spouse’s income

When one person dies, a Social Security check usually stops and a pension may shrink. Coverage can help steady the household income that remains.

Leaving something on purpose

A gift to children, grandchildren, or a cause that matters to you — decided by you, in advance, rather than left to whatever remains.

It isn't right for everyone. If your savings already cover what you'd want covered, you may not need a policy at all — and Martin will tell you so.

How it works

Martin is licensed for life insurance as well as Medicare, so you can talk it through with someone you already know instead of starting cold with a stranger. The quote itself runs through a life insurance partner that shops multiple carriers at once — their licensed agent handles the application and the policy, and Martin is here for the questions either side of it.

  1. Request a quote

A short form covering your age, health, and how much coverage you have in mind. No cost, and no obligation to buy anything.

  2. Options come back from several carriers

Rates for the same person vary a lot between companies. Martin works with a life insurance platform that compares carriers side by side rather than quoting a single company.

  3. You decide — or you don’t

You’ll get a plain explanation of what’s available and what it costs. Walking away is a perfectly good outcome, and it changes nothing about your Medicare coverage.

This is separate from your Medicare

Life insurance has nothing to do with your Medicare coverage, and nothing here changes it. Asking about it — or buying a policy, or deciding against one — has no effect on your plan, your enrollment, or the help Martin gives you with Medicare. We keep the two apart on purpose.

If you'd rather talk it through with someone you already know before filling in a form, Martin is glad to answer questions and point you in the right direction.
